The difference between biodegradable and compostable is significant to our environment.
In a nutshell, the biodegradable process means, given the right conditions and presence of microorganisms, fungi, or bacteria, the product will eventually break down into its basic components. With biodegradable mailers which are made from plastic, they will degrade into microplastics which can still have a negative impact on the environment.
Compostable products are all biodegradable, and because our mailers are biodegradable and compostable they will break down into natural substances as they are made from corn starch. In the right setting or composting facility, they will break down in a shorter amount of time, usually within 90 days, leaving a nutrient-rich organic material called humus, which creates a nutrient-rich soil.
